The humiliating loss raised a lot of concerns about Zamalek's start of the season, and earlier reports suggested that the board will discipline some underperforming players within the squad.
"We had a very bad day against ASEC, but similar defeats happen to the best clubs in the world," Abbas told Zamalek's official website on Saturday.
"Despite the bad performance in Abidjan, the board still has faith in all the players we started the season with."
Abbas' words come few days after the board assured that no changes will be made within the coaching staff.
Meanwhile, Zamalek are currently resuming preparations for their last chance game against Ahly in the Champions League, after the ASEC defeat left the team third in group A one point behind the Ivorian champions.
