The world's number two easily won the first set 6-3 before Djokovic bounced and won the second 7-5. However, Federer totally outclassed his opponent in the third and fourth sets winning 7-5 and 6-2 respectively.
The Swiss couldn’t hide his delight after reaching the final. especially after losing both the Australian and French open titles as well as Wimbledon to Spain's Rafael Nadal earlier in the season.
"I'm very happy to reach the final once again, it will mean a lot to me to win another US Open title," Federer was quoted as saying by BBC after the game.
The former World number one will face either Andy Murray or Nadal after their game was stopped due to heavy rains with Murray leading two sets to nothing.
