"It's an honor for me to represent my country," Hommos told Ismaili's official website on Wednesday.
"Consistent injuries and some bad luck hindered my chances to break into the national team, but now I'm ready to leave my mark."
The 29-year-old rarely plays for Egypt but it seems that coach Hassan Shehata will count on him in the coming period.
Midfielder Hommos was introduced as a second-half substitute in Egypt's precious 1-0 away victory over DR Congo in the World Cup qualifiers.
"I was beaming with confidence when I played against DR Congo, I wasn't nervous to participate in such a crucial encounter."
"Egypt assistant coach Shawki Gharib told me I have become part of the coaching staff's plans for the future."
Hommos, who is characterized by his ability to provide neat passes, is a regular member of Ismaili's squad.
The Dervishes are currently in charge of the Egyptian League table with 10 points from four games.
