The Liverpool duo of Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres has been given thumbs up to feature in their team's Premiership clash against Manchester United on Saturday.

Gerrard recently underwent a groin surgery and Torres was suffering from a hamstring problem. However, after Friday's training session they have both been passed fit to face United.

"They are both much better," Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez told the club's official website on Friday.

"They came through a full training session this morning. It wasn't a very hard session, but they will both be in the squad."

"I'm not surprised they are available because the medical staff have done a good job and the players have been working really hard with the physios to get fit," concluded Benitez.

Torres' and Gerrard's return will be a massive boost for Liverpool as the Reds failed to score against United in the two teams' seven previous meetings.

On the other hand, United midfielder Owen Hargreaves is still a major doubt for the game after suffering tendonitis in his knee. However, 30-million pound summer signing Dimitar Berbatov is set to be handed his debut.
