Real Madrid manager Bernd Schuster has blasted Robinho for joining Manchester City after weeks of silence over the shocking move.

"Personally, it was a real disappointment because Robinho had everything he needed here to be a success and we wanted him," Schuster told Quatro.

"But we have to understand his dream to be a good player in a mediocre team in England and we have to respect that."

Robinho has been linked with Chelsea but Manchester City clinched the deal on the transfer deadline day worth $58m to establish a new British transfer record.

The 25-year old Brazilian playmaker fell out with the board and the technical staff at Bernabeu, after being denied from playing the Olympics with the Selecao.

Robinho scored on his debut last Saturday but City lost 3-1 to Chelsea.
