Fiorentina and Olympique Lyonnais played an exciting 2-2 draw in the UEFA Champions League group F game played at Stade Gerland on Wednesday.

The Italians punished Lyon for their first half lackluster performance by scoring twice through Alberto Gilardino before Frederic Piquionne and Karim Benzema equalized for the hosts.

Viola scored their first only after 11 minutes when Gilardino perfectly raised his header above HugoLloris in the Lyon goal from Luciano Zauri's right side cross.

Three minutes before the interval, Gilardino added a copycat second but this time it was Adrian Mutu who provided the perfect-inch cross.

The home side looked totally rejuvenated after the interval and they were rewarded for their efforts in the 73rd minute when Benzema went clear through before squaring to Piquionne who tapped in the empty net.

The goal left Fiorentina players fuming as Benzema was only kept onside when Zauri was on the ground injured. The Italians were hoping Lyon players would kick the ball out for Zauri's treatment but obviously the goal was allowed to stand.

In the 86th minute Lyon completed their comeback through a clever freekick routine between Juninho and Benzema. Rather than the awaited Juninho shot the brazilian passed a low ball for the France international to slot home.

Also in the same group, Bayern Munich secured a 1-0 away win against Steaua Bucharest. The Bavarians only goal of the game came courtesy of a Daniel Van Buyten first half header.

The win leaves Bayern top of the group with three points while Steaua lies fourth without any points.
