Atletico Madrid produced a solid home performance to beat Recreativo Huelva 4-0 in the Spanish League on Saturday.

Argentine striking sensation Sergio Aguero opened the scoreline for Atletico as early as the eighth minute.

In the second half Nuno Maniche scored in the 53rd minute before winger Florent Sinama Pongolle wrapped up the win with a brace on 77 and 88 minutes.

Atletico who looked flourished by their 3-0 away at PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, scored their first when Aguero turned in Simao's cross.

The capital side easily held on to their lead until a long-range Maniche shot handed them the second. Sinama Pongolle rounded off a great performance by adding a double fifteen minutes from time.

The Frenchman timed his run to perfection and connected with Miguel's cross to add Atletico's third, before an exchange of passes with Luis Garcia set him to score a fourth.

Meanwhile Espanyol went top of the League following a 1-1 home draw against Getafe.

A second half Sergio Sanchez goal for Espanyol cancelled out Manuel De Moral's penalty-kick to hand the home side a point that was enough to lift them top of the table.

Atletico's win leaves them in second position with six points from three games, one point behind Espanyol.
