Milan, who beat FC Zurich in the UEFA Cup last week, claimed their first league win this season, following two straight defeats at the hands of Bologna and Genoa.
However, Ancelotti warned his players against complacency ahead of next week's derby clash with leaders Inter Milan.
"I don't know if the negative period is over and I say it isn't because we cannot be complacent," he said after the win at San Siro.
"Everyone took on their own share of the responsibility without seeking a scapegoat.
"The difference was we tried to play with more depth and movement, spreading the play, and I think we did it well. There was less close passing and more pace."
United
Brazilian ace Kaka, who netted his first goal of the season on Sunday, explained how the team managed to regroup in the space of one week.
"We discussed this week that we are not a bunch of individuals, but rather a united team and that is what we proved tonight," said Kaka.
"There is a long way to go yet, but you can already see the improvements and this will be a good example for the future."
