Egyptian League newcomers Police Union ended their five-match losing streak after claiming a precious 1-0 away victory over Harras Al-Hodoud on Thursday.

Midfielder Mohamed Al-Fayoumi, who joined Police Union from relegated Suez Cement, scored the winner after 11 minutes.

The victory will ease the pressure on Police Union coach Talaat Youssef, who took over at the club in the summer after steering Al-Gaish to a fourth-place finish last season.

Police Union are still at the bottom with three points, just one adrift of Al-Hodoud, who got off their season to a poor start.

The Alexandria-based club’s participation in the CAF Confederation Cup has apparently taken its toll on their local displays.

Al-Hodoud lie third in Group A of Africa’s secondary competition with six points, one behind Tunisian duo Sfaxien and Club Africain.
