Midfielder Shawky was replaced early in the second half of Boro’s 1-0 victory over Wigan Athletic, making way for Frenchman Didier Digard.
The former Ahli man was hurt by two tough tackles from compatriot Amr Zaki and Lee Cattermole in quick succession.
But he should be fit to take part in Egypt’s World Cup qualifier against Djibouti on October 12th, according to Mido.
“Shawky’s minor injury will not prevent him from playing the Djibouti match,” the Middlesbrough striker told Goal FM after the match.
Mido was also full of praise for Shawky, who tries to establish himself as a regular starter at Boro.
“Shawky played a good game and managed to stop the threat of Rodrigo Palacios.”
