Ahli coach Manuel Jose said his side achieved the least positive result after a 1-1 away draw with Enyimba in the first-leg of the Champions League semi final.

“The draw is a relatively good result but it is the least positive one for us,” Jose was quoted as saying by Ahli’s official website.

Goalscoring opportunities were at a premium in a dull affair that took place on a muddy pitch.

Jose, who led Ahli to three Champions League triumphs during the past seven years, said the uninspiring display was down to the poor state of the pitch.

“The tempo was slow because the match took place on an unplayable pitch that had many holes.”

“The high humidity has also affected the players’ performance throughout the 90 minutes.

“But in the return leg we will have the home advantage and will be heavily supported by our fans.”

The Portuguese tactician had words of praise for Nigerian outfit Enyimba, who won the Champions League twice in 2003 and 2004.

“Enyimba are a good team. Their players perfectly accomplish their tactical duties,” he said.
