Zamalek striker Junior Agogo saved Ghana’s blushes by scoring the equalizer in the 1-1 draw with Dutch division-one side Fete Feyenoord in a World Cup qualifier warm-up.

Fete Feyenoord took the lead after 20 minutes to stun the four-time African champions.

Combative frontman Agogo ensured Ghana wouldn’t be embarrassed after notching the equalizer just before the break.

The 29-year-old joined Zamalek from Nottingham Forest in the close season, but he is yet to recapture the form that saw him score three goals during the 2008 African Cup of Nations.

Agogo, whose progress at Zamalek has been hampered by a string of injuries, scored two goals so far for the Cairo giants.

Ghana will face Lesotho in a crucial World Cup qualifier on Saturday.

The Black Stars, who lie second in Group 5 with nine points, three adrift of leaders Libya, need to beat Lesotho to avoid the prospect of failing to reach the last phase of the qualifiers.

Ghana made their World Cup debut in the 2006 tournament in Germany where they reached the second round before being eliminated at the hands of Brazil.
