Ali's attempts to score were foiled
Zamalek’s veteran striker Abdul-Halim Ali said he would leave the club in January after the fans jeered him during the 1-0 friendly victory over lower division side Menouf.

The 35-year-old frontman wasted some clear-cut chances to frustrate the Zamalek supporters, who chanted angry slogans against him.

Ali, Zamalek’s all-time scorer in African competitions, replied by signaling his intention to depart the Cairo giants.

“I can’t stay here anymore. I will leave Zamalek when the transfer window re-opens in January,” he told reports following Thursday’s game.

Ali is yet to repay Reiner Hollmann’s faith in him.

He hasn’t opened his account this season yet despite being given many chances to regain the form that saw him finish the 2003/2004 campaign as the Egyptian League top scorer with 20 goals.

Lately, German tactician Hollmann has preferred to field Gamal Hamza and Junior Agogo upfront.
