Egyptian coach Ahmed Koshari admitted he took charge of Djibouti while they were in a state of disarray.

Djibouti concluded their dismal World Cup qualifying campaign by suffering a crushing 4-0 defeat to Egypt in Cairo.

They failed to bag a single point during the qualifiers, something which Koshari describes as ‘normal’.

“I found out that there was no domestic league taking place in Djibouti,” the former Ahli striker told Modern Sport after the game.

“I also found it difficult to summon the players to international duty. Some of them told me they had other jobs to do.

“During the early weeks of my job, I tried to help the players understand what they should do when they step onto the pitch. They don’t know the basic football principles.”
