Egypt's Rami Ashour has won the World Open squash title on Sunday to add a new trophy to his super series triumph.

The 21-year-old defeated his compatriot Karim Darwish 5-11, 11-8, 11-4, 11-5.

Ashour ousted top-seeded and title holder Amr Shabana in the semis, as Egypt had three representatives in the last four.

Ashour became the second player to have won the world junior and senior titles after Pakistani legend Jansher Khan.

"To be in the same category as Jansher is a huge thing," Ashour said after his historical victory.

"He is one of the legends of all time. I have been watching him on YouTube and I have taken shots from him."
