Zaki was the star man at Anfield after scoring twice despite his side's 3-2 defeat on Sunday.
"I thought he was awesome, I though he had everything great about a centre forward," said Shearer after the game.
Zaki has earlier been likened to the English legend by Wigan chairman Dave Whelan, saying they are both well-built and have many skills in common.
The former Mansoura man put the Latics twice in the lead twice, before Dirk Kuyt and Albert Riera led the Reds to a hard-fought win.
What's more, the former Blackburn and Newcastle star said the Zaki's second goal was a joy to behold.
"To get a volley like that on target let alone score was a sensational effort."
"He has a list of things all good about a centre forward and he gave Carragher an uncomfortable afternoon all day," added Shearer.
