Asyut Petroleum coach Mohamed Amer said that Cairo Stadium's wet pitch affected his players' performance in Wednesday's 3-0 defeat to Ahli.

"I don’t know if it rained on the Stadium before the game," Amer sarcastically told Nile Sport TV after the game.

"It's obvious that Ahli watered the pitch before the game and it prevented both teams' from playing comfortably."

The visitors had to complete the game with ten men after Mashoor Ahmed was sent off for a second bookable offence on 42 minutes.

"We conceded too many fouls as the lads couldn’t control their movement because of the pitch," added Amer.

Zamalek assistant coach Tarek Yehia who was commenting on the game for Nile Sports agreed with Amer that Ahli tend to unexplainably water the pitch before games.

Yehia confirmed that similar incidents occurred when Zamalek faced the league champions in the Egyptian Super Cup and the African Champions League.
