Ahli assistant coach Hossam Al-Badri said that the team's preparations for the African Champions League final affected their performance against Asyut Petroleum.
The league champions rested a number of first team players like Mohamed Abou-Treika and Flavio Amado during Wednesday's 3-0 over the Asyut.
"We're not very happy with the performance, but it's good we accomplished our main target of gaining three valuable points," Al-Badri told the club's official website.
"It was also good to field some reserve players who didn’t get the chance to feature in the Champions League."
Al-Badri added that the club's next game against Ittihad will witness the return of first team stars.
