Greisha provoked Maihoub with cards
Ahli assistant coach Alaa Maihoub hit out at referee Gehad Greisha following the Egyptian champions' 3-2 win over Telecom Egypt on Saturday.

The Red Devils came from behind to chalk up a victory over ten-man Telecom, whose performance was distinctly remarkable.

During the match, the referee cautioned many of Ahli players after giving Telecom's Wael Al-Qabani his marching orders.

"After sending Al-Qabani off, Greisha undeservedly showed our lads numerous yellow cards," Maihoub said after the game.

The Zamalek former player was dismissed after his reckless foul on Flavio Amado.

"Making amends doesn't make any sense, Al-Qabani deserved a red card and the player himself was convinced with that," he added.

"But the referee yellow-carded most of our players for no apparent reason afterwards just to make balance. Booking Ahmed Hassan was certainly an exaggerated action."

Veteran midfielder Hassan was controversially cautioned after making a clean challenge on a Telecom player.

Tactical Change

Maihoub asserted that Wael Gomaa's substitution with Hussein Yasser was an attempt to beef up the attack, not because the international defender's performance was below-par.

The newly-signed Yasser hasn't been given a substantial chance to prove his worth since his arrival in the close season.

"We have an abundance of good players. That's why Yasser is not featuring regularly," he concluded.
