Emad Meteb's move to Everton in the winter transfer window is 'just old speculation', says English agent Jesse Learoyd-Hill.

Agent Mohamed Hamid revealed on Tuesday that the 25-year-old is on his way to the Premier League side, but Learoyd-Hill rubbished his allegations.

"I am aware of the story of reported interest from Everton in Meteb, but I believe it is just old speculation that first surfaced in August," Learoyd-Hill told Skysports.com.

Learoyd-Hill indicated that Amr Zaki's magnificent form with Wigan might have directed more interest towards Egyptian players, adding in the same breath that no English club have opened talks with Meteb.

"There is always going to be interest in successful international strikers and the form of international teammate Amr Zaki in England will only increase interest," he said.

"However no English club have been in contact with regards the player."

Ahli's position

Meteb is currently on loan from Ahli at Ittihad Jeddah as Learoyd-Hill echoed the Reds' stance regarding the fresh Toffees speculation.

"Following discussions today with the hierarchy of Ahli I can confirm and reiterate the club's position," he added.

"The player is contracted with Ahli until 2010 and there is an agreement in force that he is on loan until the end of this season.

"Should any circumstances change it will be discussed through the relevant parties and not speculated through the media."

Meteb was linked with Everton back in August, but the latter landed Louis Saha from Manchester United as the Egypt striker joined Ittihad.

The Ahli homegrown player was close to joining Bristol City in the summer, but a contractual violation urged the latter to back out of the deal.
