The former Bayer Leverkusen man is currently training with Bayern during the off-season period in the States as he holds close ties with club coach Jurgen Klinsmann.

"Bayern is one of the world's top clubs, and if they ask me to join them I will do my utmost to convince Galaxy to approve the move," Donovan was quoted as saying by Bild.

"I'm really glad with the opportunity to train at Bayern among many international superstars."

The relation between Donovan and Klinsmann go back to the time when the latter worked as a counselor at Galaxy.

In case he moves to Bayern, Donovan will be the second player to leave Galaxy in January after David Beckham's loan move to AC Milan.
