Argentine forward Gonzalo Higuain became the latest injury casualty for Real Madrid, after suffering a sprained ankle during the 1-0 win over Recreativo Huelva on Saturday.

The injury will prevent Higuain from featuring with Real in the UEFA Champions League clash against BATE Borisov in Minsk on Tuesday.

With Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy out until the end of the season with a knee injury, coach Bernd Schuster had to call Castilla striker Alberto Bueno to join Raul and Javier Saviola in Real's attack.

However, it doesn’t all look bad for the German tactician; after midfielder Wesley Sneijder was declared fit enough to make the Belarus trip.

The former Ajax man strained his triceps against Recreativo but might well be starting for Real against BATE.

Los Merengues are in desperate need for a Champions League win, following back to back defeats to Juventus, which left them in second place of Group H with six points.
