Juande Ramos has been named as Real Madrid manager on Tuesday, just a few hours after sacking Bernd Schuster, club spokesman Miguel Angel Arroyo said.

Ramos has signed a six-month contract and will be on the bench on Wednesday when Madrid play Russian side Zenith in the Champions League.

Earlier this season, he was fired from Tottenham Hotspur after collecting just two points from nine Premier League games.

Schuster has been under fire recently as Real Madrid lost four times in 14 games, conceding their latest defeat against Sevilla 4-3 at home.

Real are nine points adrift of Barcelona in the league table. Both sides clash in the Nou Camp on Sunday.
