AC Milan vice president Adriano Galliani said that Liverpool defender Daniel Agger is one of the club’s January transfer targets.

With the consistent injuries of Alessandro Nesta, who had to fly to the United States for a foot operation and will miss most of the season, Milan are keen to enhance their defensive options with a January purchase.

"We are going to sign a new defender in January, there's is no doubt about that," Galliani told Tipsbladet.dk.

"We have a list of three or four names that could be used in the defence. Agger is one of those names.

Agger, whose contract at Anfield will expire in 2010, is yet to agree a new deal with Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez.

"We have kept a frequent eye on Agger and his situation at Liverpool and have of course noticed the problems that Agger and Liverpool have on agreeing on a new contract."

The Danish defender is having a fine season for the Reds, after his career was hindered by injuries since signing for the club in January 2006.
