Gareth Southgate's men salvaged a home point thanks to a Jeremy Aliadiere header after Emmanuel Adebayor took an early lead for Arsenal.
"I'm pleased with what I can call a fair and positive result," the Egyptian told Showtime Sport TV.
"It was very important for us not to lose, especially after last week's defeat at Hull City."
When asked about the future of fellow Egypt and club teammate Ahmed Hossam 'Mido', Shawky said that the 25-year-old striker is capable of playing for any Premiership top side.
Recent speculation suggested that Mido, who is currently out with an injury, might be joining Egypt hit man Amr Zaki at Wigan Athletic.
"Mido is one of the club's best players, he's our top scorer in the league and can move to any big club if he wants.
"But what's more important now is that he regains his fitness," concluded the former Ahli man.
