Chelsea failed to capitalize on Liverpool's Saturday draw, as they were held to a 1-1 result against West Ham United at Stamford Bridge.

The result left Chelsea second in the table with 37 points, while Liverpool remain first one point ahead of the Blues.

On Gianfranco Zola's return to Chelsea for the first time since the Italian took over as West Ham manager, Craig Bellamy put the visitors up front on 33 minutes.

Mark Noble darted past Alex on the left wing and his cross found Bellamy unguarded in the Chelsea box, before the Welsh striker volleyed home with a cool finish.

In the second half, Nicolas Anelka leveled for Luiz Scolari's men following a nice move by John Obi Mikel and Frank Lampard.

After their equalizer, Chelsea pushed forward trying to add a winner, but the Hammers stood their ground to earn a point which leaves them 16th in the Premiership.
