A Carvalho Amauri brace helped Juventus outclass an error-prone AC Milan 4-2 on Sunday to move within six points of Serie A leaders Inter Milan.

Milan slipped to fourth in the table with 30 points, nine behind Inter as their hopes of competing for the title faded.

Alessandro Del Piero put Juventus in front after 16 minutes when he converted a penalty after Marek Jankulovski naively tripped him inside the area.

Brazilian Alexandre Pato, who played as a lone striker, with Andriy Shevchenko and Filippo Inzaghi sitting on the bench, leveled the score in the 31st minute.

Ronaldinho latched onto a neat threaded pass from Kahka Kaladze before squaring to Pato, who had the easiest of tap-ins.

Towering defender Giorgio Chiellini restored Juve's advantage three minutes later when he rose high to head Del Piero's in-swinging corner past Christian Abbiati.

Milan's constant errors at the back paved the way for the Bianconeri to increase the gap.

Brazilian striker Amauri added the third four minutes before the break.

He met Paulo De Ceglie's cross, which eluded the terribly-positioned Kaladze, with a superb downward header that found its way into the net.

Milan midfielder Massimo Ambrosini pulled one back with a deflected shot in the 56th minute.

However, the visitors' poor defending helped Amauri ensure the win nine minutes past the hour mark.

The former Palermo man headed down a Mohamed Sissoko chipped pass before slotting home from close range.
