After losing 4-2 to CONCACAF champions Pachuca in the competition's second round, Ahli finished in sixth place after the 1-0 defeat at the hands of Adelaide United on Thursday.
"We wanted to leave the competition with a good impression," Gomaa said after the game.
"We wanted to show people that we are capable of producing good football, but unfortunately we couldn’t."
The Egyptian international wasted Ahli's best chance of the game, when he blazed Sayed Moawad's header over in the second half.
The defeat demotes Ahli to the Club World Cup sixth place, with Adelaide finishing the competition in fifth.
