Ahli forward Mohamed Abou-Treika has publicly apologized to the Egyptian media after indirectly referring to some of them as dogs.

The Egyptian international wasn’t happy with the way media ‘over-reacted’ to Ahli’s Club World Cup (CWC) losses at the hands of CONCACAF champions Pachuca and Adelaied United of Australia.

However, his comments were met by dismay from some media personnel, who believed that the 30-year-old should have accepted their criticism in a better manner.

"I didn’t mean to dishonour the Egyptian media. I was just referring to the people who were happy to see Ahli lose," Abou-Treika told Dream TV.

Since returning from Ahli’s CWC campaign, Abou-Treika has been put under a special training program in order to retain his form.
