The Germany forward has pronounced his desire to leave Bayern due to his lack of regular football, with a host of interested parties, including old club Cologne.

Podolski welcomed a return to Cologne despite their unfashionable status compared to Bayern, but the Billy Goats failed to meet the Bavarians' asking price.

"We have said we want a double figure sum (in millions) and if we are not offered that then the interested club will not recruit the player," Hoeness told the tz daily.

"Cologne do not want to pay what we are seeking."

The Bundesliga side are believed to have offered €7.5million for the services of the 23-year-old.
