Defoe set for Spurs return

Tottenham and Portsmouth have reached an agreement over the transfer of Jermain Defoe to the London club, Pompey confirmed on Tuesday.

Defoe has been a priority target for Spurs boss Harry Redknapp, who masterminded a reverse transfer for the 26-year-old 12 months ago.

The England striker is due to complete his move after passing a medical in London. The deal is reported to be around ₤15million.

Despite Portsmouth's earlier reluctance to sell him, the diminutive forward pronounced his desire to team up with Redknapp once again.

Defoe is likely to be unveiled by Tottenham on Tuesday as Redknapp's men face Burnley in the Carling Cup semi-final tonight.
