Ahli trainer Alaa Maihoub refuted rumors that defender Rami Adel assaulted coach Manuel Jose during the team's Tuesday training session.

Media reports speculated that the 30-year-old pushed Jose on Tuesday, upon hearing that he was omitted from the squad that faced Harras Hodoud in the cup on Wednesday.

"These reports are absolute rubbish. Adel is well known to be a disciplined player and he'd never do something like that," Maihoub told Ahli's official website.

"Unlike what happens in other Egyptian clubs, Ahli players are all professionals and none of them has ever provoked or assaulted his coach."

Maihoub considered that if media reports were true, Adel would have been suspended rather than train with the rest of the players who didn’t make the Alexandria trip.

"There's a media campaign aiming at Ahli. All I ask journalists to is double check facts before publishing stories about us," added the former Egyptian international.

In Adel's absence, Ahli were eliminated from the Egyptian Cup last 16 round, after a 1-0 defeat to Hodoud.
