Decastel spent so many years in Africa

Swiss tactician Michel Decastel, who's close to being appointed as Zamalek head coach, voiced his dissatisfaction over the White Knight's non-participation in the continental competitions.

The Cairo side have absolutely no official commitments on the African stage this year.

"I will do my best to make Zamalek advance to the second place in the league this season in order to book a berth in the African Champions League," Decastel told FilGoal.com.

Now Zamalek lie sixth with 21 points, nine adrift of leaders Petrojet.

Obtaining a better rank could be an uphill struggle for the 11-time Egyptian Champions, given that they are suffering a myriad of setbacks this season.

Preparation Camp

The Swiss coach has arrived in Ismailia, where Zamalek are holding their preparation camp ahead of the anticipated encounter against bitter rivals Ahli in a rescheduled Egyptian Premier League game.

Decastel is trying to get accustomed to the team before taking up the coach job, which was quite frustrating for a multitude of his predecessors.

The 53-year-old has already reached an agreement with Zamalek's officials, and his monthly salary is set to be € 30,000, while his assistant's should be around € 5,000.
