Ahli forward Hussein Yasser will take no part in Sunday's Cairo derby with Zamalek due to his commitment to Qatar national team in the Gulf Cup of Nations.
According to an earlier agreement between Ahli and Qatar, the latter were bound to release the 26-year-old ahead of the Cairo derby.
However, Yasser revealed that Ahli have consented him to a further stay, following a fresh request by the Qataris.
"Ahli accepted Qatar's request to keep me until the end of the Gulf Cup, so I am staying with the national team," the Egyptian-born forward told Hayat TV.
Ahli's crunch meeting with Zamalek clashes with Qatar's decisive Group B game against Gulf giants Saudi Arabia on Sunday.
The Maroons will hope to have Yasser back to full fitness after the diminutive frontman sustained a hamstring injury in the 0-0 draw with UAE last Thursday.
