Zamalek keeper Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed interfered to set a number of club fans free, after they were detained by the Egyptian police.

The fans were accused of causing riots following the club’s 1-0 defeat to Ahli on Sunday.

However, Al-Sayed personally interfered by assuring the authorities that the fans didn’t take part in any sabotaging acts.

“I personally know some off these fans and I’m sure they wouldn’t harm anyone even if their team lose,” Al-Sayed told FilGoal.com.

“I want to thank the police authorities for their help and understanding.”

Some Ahli fans were earlier confined prior to the Cairo derby, after the unfortunate incidents that marred the Red Devils’ clash with Ismaili last week.
