Middlesbrough midfielder Julio Arca believes that nothing can be done to prevent his want-out teammates from leaving the club.

A good number of Gareth Southgate's men revealed their intention of leaving the riverside in January, including Egyptian striker Mido.

"If players want to leave then they will leave, you can't stop them doing what they want to do," Arca said.

Winger Stewart Downing is also one of Boro's unsettled players. He made a request to be transfer listed this winter as he is keen to join Tottenham.

"It's his decision, he has his own reasons for doing what he wants to do. That’s why we don't talk to him about it. We don't want to push him away by questioning why," added Arca.

Mido

Beforehand, Mido's brother Tamer Wasfi told FilGoal.com the Egypt ace got fed up with lack of first-team football at the club, and thus is eager to start a new adventure.

He also revealed that the towering hitman received several offers from mediocre Premier League sides.

Later on, British media reported that Newcastle United have opened talks with Middlesbrough over exchanging Mido for Alan Smith.

Ironically, the former Roma player got upset as he wasn't informed with the claimed negotiations.
