Zamalek are on the verge of signing Cotonsport defensive midfielder Stephane Kingue Mpondo, the player's agent told FilGoal.com.

According to the agent, Mpondo has agreed all personal terms with Zamalek, and is set to officially sign for the White Knights later on Monday.

Mpondo has been an integral part of the Cotonsport team, which reached this season's CAF Champions League final against Ahli.

The 24-year-old started his career with Racing Bafoussam before joining Cotonsport in 2003.

He was previously called up for the Cameroon national team but is yet to earn his first international cap.

In case the deal is finalized, Mpondo will take Tunisian defender Wissem Abdi's place in Zamalek's team list as a third foreigner alongside Ricardo and Junior Agogo.

Abdi is all but out of Zamalek in January, after the Cairo club agreed to sell him and already sent his international card to Esperance of Tunisia.
