AC Milan midfielder David Beckham revealed that his teammate Kaka had rejected Manchester City's astronomical offer because he wants to join Real Madrid.

Big-spenders City made a bid of $ 147 million to acquire the Brazilian ace's services, but the latter turned it down on Monday night.

"Kaka wants to go to Real Madrid and not to City," Beckham was quoted by Spanish publication AS as saying.

The veteran winger declared that some of the Spanish giants' officials contacted Kaka over a potential transfer by next summer.

"I think he will become a Real player in June," Beckham added. "I think someone has called him and that Kaka has made his decision."

AS reported last week that the Brazil playmaker asked Beckham, who played for Real between 2003 and 2007, for information about the Spanish champions.

Beforehand, former Real president Ramon Calderon, who handed in his resignation days ago, pledged to land the 26-year-old during his tenure.

Los Merengues are tipped to remain interested in Kaka even after the departure of Calderon.

"This is the best moment to recruit Kaka, he is the player who would benefit the team the most," a Real source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told the newspaper.
