Peruvian striker Claudio Pizarro revealed his intention of extending his stay at German club Werder Bremen.

The 30-year-old has joined the Bundesliga side on loan till the end of the season from Chelsea, where he failed to impress.

"I am very interested in staying at Werder," Pizarro told Kicker Sportmagazin on Monday.

Bremen manager Klaus Allofs is also keen to hold onto the veteran hitman.

"Claudio has told us that he wants to stay," the coach said.

"We have to be patient but we would also like to keep Claudio here.

"We have to find out whether Chelsea are willing to do business, so it is too early to make final decisions at the moment."

Allofs referred that the contract of the South American forward runs out in the near future, and thus Bremen want to wrap up a new deal right away.

"He is a good player," he added.

"But because he is out of contract soon many clubs are chasing him."

Chelsea probably won't have any reservations about the potential deal, as Pizarro was nothing more than a surplus at Stamford Bridge.
