Ahli have agreed to loan out defender Rami Adel to Masri until the end of the season, the Egyptian champions announced on Thursday.

"We accepted Masri's loan offer upon the player's request," Ahli football coordinator Hadi Khashaba told the club's official website.

Petrojet were close to signing Adel but couldn't reach a final agreement with him.

"We differed about the release clause. Masri then made their offer and I accepted it," the 29-year-old told Al-Hayat TV.

Adel was told he had no future at Ahli after falling out with coach Manuel Jose.

He protested against being given limited opportunities in a way that Ahli board deemed inappropriate.

Adel has been Jose's fourth-choice defender since joining from Arab Contractors as the Portuguese coach relies on trio Shadi Mohamed, Wael Gomaa and Ahmed Al-Sayed.

"I'm very unhappy that I wasted several years of my career," he said in a disappointed tone.

"I used to be a regular member of Egypt's squad but lack of playing time at Ahli cost me that place."

Masri signed a host of players in the close season, including Ittihad defender Hossam Abdul-Monem and Ghanaian striker Razak Pimpong.

Masri, who appointed Tarek Soliman as head coach in place of the sacked Hossam Hassan, lie seventh in the Egyptian league table with 20 points.
