Shokri

Egyptian striker Islam Shokri joined Belgian third-division side Turnhout on loan from Lierse after his prospected move to Zamalek fell through.

Lierse, who are owned by Egyptian business man Maged Sami, announced that Shokri will spend the rest of the season at Turnhout without providing further details of the deal.

FilGoal.com revealed last week that the 25-year-old is in talks with Zamalek, but it seems that the Cairo club failed in their attempt.

Shokri was desperate to play regularly with Lierse, who also have at their ranks Egyptian trio Ahmed Samir, Mohamed Abdul-Wahed and Sherif Al-Beyali.

He scored 10 goals for Lierse reserves this season, but now looks for a new challenge with Turnhout, who are also owned by Sami.

Turnhout are pushing for a promotion ticket this season as they lie second in Group B of the third division.
