The Tunisian club were close to winning Africa's Premier competition in 2006 but their hopes were shattered by a stunning Mohamed Abou-Treika volley in the dying minutes.
Now Sfaxien, the 2008 Confederation Cup champions, have a chance to make amends as they face Champions League winners Ahli at Cairo Stadium on Friday.
"We want to add the Super Cup to our trophy cabinet but we also seek to avenge our loss against Ahli in 2006," Sfaxien skipper Mardassi told reporters.
"We regained our confidence after that defeat and are eager to demonstrate that we have what it takes to win the Super Cup.
"Sfaxien's current crop of players gained huge experience from participating in continental competitions. It will be a great asset against Ahli."
A win for three-time champions Ahli would help them surpass arch-rivals Zamalek, who also won the Super Cup three times.
