Midfielder Hassan Ahli needed one minute to put the hosts ahead but Carlos Renato drew Shabab level just two minutes later.

Ahmed Khalil restored Ahli's advantage in the 28th minute and Brazilian striker Bare extended the lead in the 39th minute.

Suroor Salem narrowed the gap just before the break but Ahli held onto their slender lead to claim all three points.

Egypt midfielder Abd-Rabou, who scored five league goals so far, played full 90 minutes and put in a fine display.

Ahli have 26 points from 11 games as they lie second in the league table halfway through the season due to their inferior goal difference to leaders Jazeera.
