Alexandria Stadium manager Ahmed Kamis called on Ittihad and Olympic to hold their home Egyptian Premier League games at other venues.

The medium-sized stadium is going to be refurbished ahead of the U-20 World Cup, which will be hosted by Egypt, and thus will be out of service for a while.

"We need to temporarily close the stadium as improvement work will get underway soon," Kamis told FilGoal.com.

"New light spots will be installed and the jogging track will be restored, therefore no games will be held at the Alexandria Stadium over the next few months.

"We are currently working on the stands, but the upcoming alterations can't be done while the stadium is hosting games."

On the other hand, Ittihad chairman Mohamed Moselhi is determined to hold the remaining of his team's home matches at the Alexandria Stadium.

"The stadium's directors want to close it during the last weeks of the season," Moselhi said.

"The league would be heated at this time, as some teams would be striving to avoid relegation.

"We have made a request to postpone the closure. The U-20 World Cup kicks off in September, so they would have enough to wrap up the renovation process."
