Walid Soliman hinted that he could look beyond his six-month loan period with Ahli Jeddah as he revealed his ambition to play in Europe.

The dexterous playmaker joined Ahli from Petrojet this winter, but is yet to make his debut with the Saudi giants.

"Ahli are an ideal club for me, I was really flattered by the reception I got from the fans and I will do my best to repay them," Soliman was quoted by Saudi newspaper Al-Watan.

"I would consider extending my stay here if the loan period turned successful. Ahli are a great club who have won many trophies."

Ahli Cairo Interest

Soliman remained coy over reports linking him with Egyptian champions Ahli, despite admitting his desire to join the Red Devils prior to his Jeddah switch.

"I don’t know much about the interest from Ahli (Cairo), but I am focused on playing well with my current team," he said.

"My intention is to grab the interest of European clubs through my spell with Ahli Jeddah."

Finally, Soliman indicated that he took the advice of Ahli (Cairo) star Mohamed Barakat, who enjoyed a successful bout in Jeddah in 2003-2004.

"I asked Barakat about his spell in Saudi Arabia before joining Ahli Jeddah, and he encouraged me to make the move," said the 24-year-old.

Both Soliman and Barakat were named in Egypt's squad for the upcoming friendly with Ghana on Wednesday.
