The Italy forward marked his comeback to the Juve line up by scoring his team’s opener on 11 minutes. However, he was cautioned for taking off his shirt while celebrating his goal.
Seconds later, Iaquinta put an end to his participation after receiving a second yellow for a clumsy late tackle on a Catania player.
“For a moment after the goal I didn't understand anything. A lot of it was because I wanted to party under the curva with our fans,” Iaquinta was quoted as saying by Football Italia.
“The Juve supporters were there to encourage me when people spoke of me going away, so I dedicated my goal to them."
Iaquinta seemed to be on his way out of Juventus in January, after the 29-year-old failed to win a regular spot since joining the team from Udinese in 2007.
Harsh Caution
Despite admitting his wrongdoing, Iaquinta said that it was harsh to receive a second yellow for the incident after the goal.
“That tackle was not worthy of a yellow. I did go in a little hard. I was furious like never before because I was forced to leave the field after little over 10 minutes.
“What a pain. I first thought about not watching the game. Then I popped myself in front of the TV and watched my goal, it made the red card a little less bitter."
