Egyptian striker Islam Shokri, who plays for Belgian third division side Turnhout, said the opposition fans' racist chants forced him to lose his nerve and receive his marching orders against Vervitois.

After helping his team achieve a valuable win, Shokri was sent-off following the game, after getting into a post-match bust up with a number of Vervitois players.

"Vervitois fans have been chanting racism slogans against me throughout the whole game," Shokri told FilGoal.com.

"I tried to control my temper until the end of the game, but I couldn’t bear what happened from some of their players after that."

Shokri joined Turnhout in January from Belgian second division side Lierse until the end of the current season.
