Osman was given the sack last November after failing to get his team back to winning ways, following a poor run in the Egyptian Premier League.
However, Helmi assured that he's building on Osman's success with the relegation-threatened team, saying the fired tactician deserves some credit for the pivotal league win.
"Osman did great with Olympic," Helmi stated after the match. "I would like to dedicate today's victory to him."
When asked about the match, the former Zamalek assistant coach said: "We played well, and we could have won by a bigger margin, but we wasted so many chances.
"We also squandered a spot-kick, and had a goal disallowed."
Having won the match, Olympic advanced to 15th place with 16 points, while Petrojet failed to restore leadership and remained second with 34.
Helmi is hoping to keep Olympic's form up during the second half of the season, as their forthcoming matches will be no doddle.
"The next matches are not going to be easy. The next clash is against Ismaili, and I wish I could keep the team on an even keel," he explained.
