Germany midfielder Torsten Frings conceded he's uncertain about his prospects with the national team, alluding that his days as an international footballer might come to an end in the not-too-distant future.

The Werder Bremen veteran was panned after putting on a lackluster performance in last week's 1-0 loss to Norway, which raised questions about his future with Joachim Low's side.

Frings, who was an integral part of Germany's squad in the last two World Cups, is holding out hope to feature in the upcoming edition of the gigantic tournament.

"I will have to wait and see how long I can succeed in the game with my powerful style," the 32-year-old said.

"I have been to two World Cups during my career, and may go to a third in the future. I think that would be the indication that I have enjoyed a great career in the game."

A third World Cup appearance could be hard to achieve for Frings, who pounded away at boss Low for snubbing him ahead of several qualifiers.

The former Bayern Munich ace regretted criticizing his coach's decision in public, saying there were better ways to talk things over.

"I would definitely have opted for a different way of discussing it," Frings admitted. "This was not well advised and I feel I may have made a mistake in doing it the way I did."
