Ahli denied on Saturday reports linking them with a move for Feyenoord's Egyptian goalkeeper Sherif Ekrami.

"We didn't hold any talks with Ekrami because we are yet to identify our needs for next season," Ahli's general coordinator Hadi Khashaba told FilGoal.com.

"We are now focusing on our Egyptian league and Champions League campaigns. We can think about reinforcing our squad later."

Dutch reports claimed that Ekrami was close to joining the Red Devils at the end of the season after growing increasingly frustrated at lack of first-team opportunities.

"None of Ahli officials contacted me over a summer move," the 25-year-old guardian commented.

Ekrami, who came through Ahli's youth ranks, has been at Feyenoord since 2005 but made few appearances with the 14-time Dutch champions.

He spent an unsuccessful three-month loan spell with Turkish side Ankaragucu last year.

Ahli have been linked with numerous goalkeepers since the abrupt departure of Essam Al-Hadari in February 2008.

But they kept faith in current first-choice goalie Amir Abdul-Hamid, who is consistently criticized for committing lots of errors.
